Just look at that angry cute gobby little fish car. Who wouldn’t want to race the ever loving snot out of it?
The original S-FR concept was released for the Tokyo motor show this summer. That thinly disguised near production car now gets a follow up in the form of this S-FR Racing Concept, to be unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January.
But we all know what we’re looking at here: a spec S-FR racer. If it proves as cheap as the street version is alleged to be, there’ll be shoals of ‘em, hyperactively bumping around a circuit near you.
C’mon, Toyota. Stop teasing. Give us it.

I particularly like the ridiculous rear wing.
You kind of want to pet it, but you know it’ll probably bite your arm off.

Watch it go in to production, but never come to the U.S. Just like the Honda S660.

A tiny angry whale shark racecar? Why is this not in my garage right now?

Wheels rock.

Why’d you have to say that? You come out with stink like that. Poop. You poopmouth, with poop out of your mouth!

You never know, but it’s not a kei- it’s bigger than that. Rumours are that it’ll have a 1.5 litre I4 (rather than the Honda’s 660 cc triple), and it’s an inch or so longer and wider than a Fiesta.

Looks like the Miata Global Cup car has got some competition.

The S-FR is ugly as hell, but I’m still interested.

10/10 would watch that race

Sometimes ugly is more interesting than beautiful.
(or so I keep telling myself)

Reminds me a little bit of the old Cunninghams.

I was thinking of the various Austin Healy Sprite racers, but yes: there used to be lots of tiny simple every man racecars

I still think it looks kind of funny but I really want it.

I mean, it’s actually left me somewhat impressed by and definitely further interested in a Toyota. For anything released this decade, that’s really unusual.

This is good Toyota. This is what Toyota can do. This is the Toyota we need.

that thing looks like a fuckin hoot to drive! I want it in a series against the Miata Cup car

...Toyota nooooooo!!!! Why you do dis?!?

Believe me, I hope I’m wrong, lol. I’d love to have one of these little guys in the garage.
And really? I didn’t realize it was that big. The pictures make it look like it’s smaller than a Miata. If that’s the case though, it seems like that would put it in close competition with the FR-S, so I don’t see how Toyota would be able to sell both of them. Unless they’re planning on ditching the FR-S or something. Again though, I really hope I’m wrong and this thing comes to fruition.

This car is the perfect underwater car. Just imagine that thing gliding under the water like Bond’s (Musk’s) Esprit. It’d be right at home with other fishies swimming around it.
![]() 12/03/2015 at 11:00 |
|
Just looking at it, it’s actually fractionally bigger than an MX-5:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
but that might be because those are the specs for the racer, with all of its fins and things.
Also, while it may be a smidgen longer and wider than a Fiesta, it’s a whole lot lower and lighter.
But yes, it seems a dead cert for Europe and Japan, but the US is always uncertain... Maybe you’ll just get the racer and not the road car ;-)

I just burst out laughing when I saw this. It’s the most ridiculous car face ever. This should be a meme for all things angry.

I CAN’T STOP LAUGHING! IT’S SO MAD RIGHT NOW!!!
![]() 12/03/2015 at 12:07 |

Nice. I’m even more impressed now, hahaha.
And I’d be happy with just the racer. That’s the main thing I’d use it for anyways. Don’t think that thing is gonna hold any baby seats...

It’s kind of the Begbie of race cars; crumple a crisp packet, and it’ll threaten to bash yer FOOKIN’ hed in, ye C*NT.

Wow, I want to spend all day wringing its cute little neck.

Congrats. You’ve summed this car up better than I ever could. I love this goofy little thing!
